About Skive region – numbers and facts

The new Skive region was made in connection with the Struktural Reform, which were implemented in January 2007. In this regard, the former regions – Sallingsund, Skive, Spøttrup and Sundsøre – became one region.

Skive region has approx. 48.200 citizens. The region covers an area of approx. 690 km2, and has a coastline of approx. 190 kilometres in total – a coastline, that extends around the Limfjord. The region has 6 harbours; Fur, Glyngøre, Sundsøre, Skive, Virksund and Gyldendal.

Skive region belongs under Region Midtjylland.

Skive city has approx. 20.000 citizens and is thereby the main city in the region. You can read a short description about the other cities elsewhere on this webpage.
